KEY AREAS OF WORK IN THE PRACTICE
Developing High Quality PE and School Sport...
- Leading sports specialism curriculum visioning sessions for Academy Project Development Teams to inform the Education Brief for the new school.
- Supporting Academy Directors of Specialisms to produce detailed Development Plans for their sport specialism.
- Providing pre-designation support for aspiring Sports Colleges; including the production of school development plans for PE and Sport, a second subject, and for whole school, with 'smart targets' which demonstrate year on year improvement for four years.
- Working alongside Steve Wells Associates design specialists to assist schools in planning facility specifications that deliver their PE visions.
- Providing a bespoke PE consultancy support for PE departments and CPD for PE departments, e.g. training on the New Ofsted Framework.
School and Community Partnerships...
- Advising Academies in developing the sports specialism to make a contribution to local communities and helping them link with local sports development networks and initiatives.
- Working with pre-designation Sports Colleges to develop their Community Plans which aim to raise standards in PE for named primary and secondary partners schools, and to provide learning opportunities in sport for groups in the wider community.
- Developing school and community sports projects on school sites; involving the production of Business and Management Plans, and extensive community consultation to inform sports development planning. These projects have culminated in bids to funding agencies such as the Football Foundation, New Opportunities Fund and Sport England.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Seven years working within Hull City Council's LEA Advisory Service as School Improvement Teacher for PE and Sport. This role involved supporting individual schools to raise standards in and through physical education, providing continuing professional development opportunities, and supporting schools to develop effective self-evaluation and monitoring. This work also involved providing a strategic lead for the development of PE and school sport in the LEA through national PE and school sport initiatives.
- Extensive experience of developing school and community sports programmes as Trust Manager of the Centre AT7 project in Coventry. Projects included a full community sports programme, delivering post-16 vocational training opportunities in sport and leisure, a Duke of Edinburgh's project in partnership with Coventry City Football Club, and a primary school outreach project to improve pupils' participation and skills in sport.

OTHER INTRESTS
- Brenda has a long-standing involvement in swimming and water polo, having served on a number of Amateur Swimming Association committees. She is still an active swimmer.
- Brenda is a member of the Association for PEA.
